The Hijama Association of South Africa was established in January 2017 with the aim of recognizing Islamic alternative healing methods in particular Hijama/cupping and Ruqyah. The founder Ismail Yunus Desai started this association to oversee and allow practitioners to practice this Sunnah openly and freely provided that practitioners maintain and uphold the standards set by the Hijama Association of South Africa in terms of hygiene, confidentiality of patient, treatment and after-care services provided by the practitioner

Mission
The Hijama Association of South Africa aims to recognize Islamic alternative healing methods by providing a platform where qualified therapist/practitioners are able to practice freely and openly along with ongoing support, protection and possible solutions. Furthermore Hijama/cupping is a beautiful healing method from the Sunnah of our beloved Nabi SAW and as Muslims, the mission it is our mission to spread this sunnah and protect the rights of all those who practice Hijama/cupping and to ensure the wellbeing of those who have had Hijama/cupping performed on them.
Vission
The Hijama Association of South Africa envisions an increase in awareness of the practice as well as the number of qualified practitioners expanding into a larger global community.
